The 7 Path Labyrinth
The 7 path labyrinths are an ancient design. They are found around the globe in all cultures. Even under ice packs and glaciers. These labyrinths were often laid out in large stones, dug into the earth, drawn on ancient pottery and cave walls, woven in baskets or cloth. Ancestral tribes danced the design, others walked the path. King’s gardens were not complete without a walking Labyrinth path, it aided in their important decision making.

The Labyrinth
The Chartres Labyrinth, ancient sacred walking path, is laid-in stone on the floor of Chartres Cathedral in France. It is the last remaining original stone Labyrinth of the 11, set in Cathedrals and Churches in the 12th Century. Notre Dame de Chartres Cathedral is famous world wide for it’s grand architecture, stained glass windows and visual ‘library’ of Christian history depicted in over 10,000 icons throughout the cathedral.
Nothing was done by accident at Chartres, sacred geometry, the mathematics of mysticism resounds through every stone, statue and window. Chartres epitomized in symbolism man’s journey from earthly existence to spiritual enlightenment. The ‘Mystery School of Chartres’ was famous throughout the Christian world of that era (1125), exploring mysticism, sacred geometry and transformation, the Labyrinth was an important spiritual tool utilized by the initiates.
Today the Chartres, 11 path Labyrinth is still walked as a pilgrimage path, symbolic of the spiritual journey to the New Jerusalem. The Chartres Labyrinth has survived centuries, to be rediscovered and replicated in a new era- the 21st century. Recreated in canvas, carpet, set in stone, the design can be seen, walked, or traced. People of all denominations, Churches, parks, hospitals, schools, businesses, prisons- across the globe have access to some type of Labyrinth. They have re-discovered the unique meditative experience the Labyrinth has to offer.
